STAUNTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
Located in the City of Staunton VA, the Staunton Public Library is an attempt at re-imagining a typical library through the use of a spatial configuration that transcends the difference between public institutional spaces and more interactive spaces like restaurants, art galleries etc. Simple geometries come together to create an experience that contrasts with the complex 3-dimensional circulation The site, located along Byers St., lies in close proximity to the Staunton Train Station and a couple of bus stops- making it a central hub and a convenient location for visitors and students to stop by and utilize the services that the Staunton Public Library offers.
Redefining the idea of a library merely as a definitive source of information and embracing the possibility of creating a spatial configuration that fosters interaction and connection among its users. Exploring how the library can be transformed into a hub that allows different functional spaces to congregate and create an environment that encourages social interactions and an immersive interactive experience for its users.
